Senske agrees to buy former golf dome site

Lawn-care company hopes to start work this summer on new $1.6 million facility

February 26, 1997
Linn Parish

Senske Lawn & Tree Care Inc., of Kennewick, Wash., has agreed to buy the former Fore Seasons Sports Dome site in Spokane Valley and plans to build a new facility there for its Spokane operation.

The 4.25-acre site is located at 7115 E. Cataldo, just east of the Interstate 90-Broadway Avenue interchange.

Senske Lawn President Chris Senske says the company expects to complete the land purchase this summer and start construction of a 17,000-square-foot office-and-warehouse facility there. The $1.6 million structure could be completed late this year, Senske says.

Russell C. Page Architects PS, of Spokane, is designing it, and Vandervert Construction Inc., of Spokane, would be the general contractor, he says.

Doug Lydig, owner of Fore Seasons Sports Dome, says he has sold the inflatable dome building, which stood 65 feet tall when inflated, to a Minnesota concern.

Senske Lawns current Spokane operation occupies a 6,000-square-foot building on 1.25 acres at 708 N. Lee. Senske says the company has been there since the early 1960s and has outgrown the space. It owns that property but hasnt determined what it will do with it.

The company has about 10,000 customers in the Spokane area. Senske says the company typically employs about 80 workers here in the summer months and as few as 50 during the off-season.

In addition to lawn and tree care, Senske Lawn offers pest control, pruning services, light landscaping, and holiday lighting installation.
