SolicitorÂ’s Corner sold to Spokane company

New owner plans few changes to 8-year-old North Division eatery

February 26, 1997
Addy Hatch

JM Siok Holdings LLC, a company owned by Spokane businessman John Siok and his wife, Paula, has bought Solicitors Corner, a longtime restaurant at 6301 N. Division.

The restaurant has 38 employees and seats about 240 people on three levels.

Solicitors Corner, which is located at the busy intersection of Division and Francis Avenue, will retain its name, and Siok doesnt plan many changes there, he says.

There will be some minor improvements to the interior, he says.

In addition, Siok says hell add new menu items featuring regional specialties from around the U.S.

The Sioks bought the restaurant from Jim Wright, who had owned it for about 18 months, Siok says. Wright had removed equipment from a microbrewery operation that formerly operated in the restaurant, Siok says.

The restaurant had been called Solicitors Corner since 1995, he says.

Siok declined to say how much Siok Holdings paid for the establishment.

In 2000, Siok and a partner founded ScanRx Inc. here, which marketed software to physicians that automated the task of writing prescriptions. He says they sold that technology to a Portland, Ore., company in 2001.

Siok says Solicitors Corner is his first foray into the restaurant world. Its something Ive always wanted to do.
