Supply distributor here leases larger quarters

Familian Northwest plans to remodel Valley building, move operation in spring

February 26, 1997
Linn Parish

Familian Northwest Inc., a Newport News, Va.-based mechanical- and industrial-supply distributor, has leased a 57,000-square-foot building and five adjoining acres in the Spokane Valley for its main Spokane facility.

The company plans to start work early next year on an $800,000 remodeling project at that building, which is located at 2304 N. Dollar, south of Felts Field, and to move its main Spokane operation there next spring, says Danny Miller, Familians Spokane-based regional manager.

The companys main facility here currently is located in a 20,000-square-foot building at 4004 E. Boone.

Familian is seeking bids from contractors for the remodeling project, which involves updating warehouse space and converting some warehouse space to a 3,000-square-foot showroom and a 4,000-square-foot will-call area, where customers can pick up supplies, Miller says.

The new facility will allow Familian to carry a larger inventory and more products here, including heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning supplies, which the company recently added to its mix.

Familian also operates a 15,000-square-foot distribution center at 10208 N. Division. In all, Miller says, the company employs 44 people here.

Familian operates 120 branches in 16 western U.S. states.

Mark Lucas and Tracy Lucas, both of Kiemle & Hagood Co., and Mark Davis, of Tomlinson Black Commercial Inc., handled the lease.
