CookÂ’s Dream acquires kitchen-equipment store

Owner to blend product offerings of both outlets, plans more locations later

February 26, 1997

Cooks Dream, a cookware shop on the South Hill, has bought Jays Bosch Kitchen Center, in the Spokane Valley, and has renamed both businesses Cooks Dream, an Authorized Bosch Dealer.

Rick Wilcox, president of Cooks Dream Inc., the parent company of both shops, says the acquisition was completed earlier this month for an undisclosed price.

Hes currently doing some cosmetic remodeling of the Bosch Kitchen Center, at 8123 E. Sprague, he says.

Wilcox says he bought the business from Jay and Linda Holliday, who had owned it for the past 12 years. The couple will continue to work at the store as employees of Cooks Dream, he says.

As part of the purchase, the Cooks Dream store on the South Hill, at 2829 E. 29th, will begin carrying the same high-end Bosch mixers and flour mills that are sold at the Bosch outlet. Likewise, the same selection of cookware, bakeware, and kitchen gadgets that are sold at Cooks Dream will be added to the merchandise mix at the Spokane Valley store, Wilcox says.

In addition, the Spokane Valley location eventually will offer some of the same cooking classes and demonstrations that currently are offered at Cooks Dream on the South Hill.

We dont know to what extent, he says. Were trying to make contacts with chefs out there. But theres a nice double kitchen out there.

Wilcox says he hopes to open additional Cooks Dream outlets in the Spokane area in the future. He opened the first location a year and a half ago, and also operates a Web site that sells bakeware.

The company now employs 10 people, including Wilcox and the Hollidays.
