Spokane printer maker plans to move to SBIP

Output Technology to leave larger facility on Fancher

February 26, 1997
Linn Parish

Output Technology Corp., a manufacturer of high-speed computer printers here, plans to move into a 20,000-square-foot space at the Spokane Business & Industrial Park, in the Spokane Valley.

Crown West Realty LLC, the Spokane company that owns and operates the business park, is making some minor improvements to the space, and Output Technology CEO Steve Benner says the company plans to move there in late October. The leased space will house all of the companys operations, including its administrative and sales office, as well as its equipment-repair shop.

Output Technologys new location will be about one-quarter the size of its current home, which includes roughly 80,000 square feet of office-and-warehouse space in a 158,000-square-foot complex at 2310 N. Fancher, near Felts Field in the Valley.

Output Technology has leased the entire facility, which includes two buildings, for more than 10 years, but Benner says the company has subleased out about half of that space for the past several years.

The printer maker currently employs about 30 people, which is roughly half the number of workers it had at this time last year. Benner says Output Technology began having a contract manufacturer build its products this past year and closed four out-of-state sales offices. Both moves contributed to the decline in employment. Also, the company has had to cut some positions due to softer sales.

Dean Stuart, of Crown West Realty LLC, handled Output Technologys lease at the business park.
