Retail center planned near Felts Field

Development is to include ZipÂ’s, convenience store, and multitenant building

February 26, 1997

Spokane restaurateur Dennis Kelly plans to develop a small retail center, called Felts Crossing, at the northeast corner of Trent Avenue and Fancher Way near the Felts Field municipal airport.

Kelly says the retail center will be located on a three-acre site he bought about two years ago and will include a 3,500-square-foot Zips drive-in restaurant, a 3,200-square-foot Conoco convenience store and gas station, and a 7,000-square-foot, multitenant building.

He hopes to begin construction of the project next spring and to complete it that summer, Kelly says. He declines to say how much he expects the project to cost. Bernardo-Wills Architects PC, of Spokane, is designing the center, and Garco Development Services, of Spokane, is acting as a for-fee developer on the project. A general contractor hasnt been chosen yet.

Kelly says no tenants have been secured yet for the multitenant building, which will be able to accommodate up to six businesses. Don Jamison, of Re/Max of Spokane, will be marketing the space there for lease, he says.

Kelly says he will own and operate the retail center through a limited-liability corporation he has formed called DKelly Development LLC.

Kelly owns three other Zips drive-in restaurants here, at 725 W. Third downtown, 1018 W. Northwest Blvd., and near the intersection of Francis Avenue and Maple Street next to Five Mile Shopping Center.
