WAM plans to build call center for Dakotah

Telemarketer to lease facility thatÂ’s going up in new park

February 26, 1997
Chad Cain

WAM Enterprises Inc., of Spokane, is buying a piece of land in Liberty Lake and plans to construct a new call center there for Dakotah Direct Inc., the big Spokane-based telemarketing concern.

The new building will be constructed on a 1.7-acre parcel in Liberty Lake Center, a business park being developed by Metropolitan Mortgage & Securities Co., of Spokane. WAM nearly has closed on a deal to buy the property from Metropolitan, and is expected to begin construction of the 13,000-square-foot building for Dakotah this week, said Bruce Miller, WAMs vice president.

The new building will be located just east of a Land Rover dealership thats currently under construction, and will face Knox Avenue, just south of Interstate 90. Panco Construction Inc., of Spokane, is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to be completed in July.

The single-story building will have a value of about $1.5 million, Miller says. Dakotah will lease the building from WAM, he says. Comment wasnt available from Dakotah.

Miller says Dakotahs new call center will look like one it opened in the Tri-Cities last year. That center employs 200 people and is located in Broadmoor Park, which is owned by Summit Property Development Co., an affiliate of Metropolitan. Dakotah leases that facility from Summit.

Dakotah has 14 call centers and employs about 2,400 people, including 1,200 here. It recently opened a call center in Coeur dAlene and plans to move into a headquarters building soon at Mullan and Sinto in the Valley.
