Alliant Insurance Services' Spokane office has promoted Marcus Jackson to managing director and executive vice president for Alliant's Inland Northwest Employee Benefits Practice from executive vice president. Jackson has been with Alliant Insurance Services for 26 years. Tera Krueger also has been promoted at Alliant to vice president senior project manager for Alliant's Inland Northwest Employee Benefit Practice from account executive. Krueger has been with Alliant Insurance Services for nine years.

Spokane-based senior living community South Hill Village has hired Jennifer Whitmyer as its executive director. Whitmyer has over 12 years of experience in senior living services.

Seattle-based Coffman Engineers has promoted Carston Mortenson to principal from senior discipline engineer in the Spokane office's civil engineering department. Mortenson has a background in a variety of project types, including commercial site development, transit, industrial, and oil and gas.

The Spokane office of Kutak Rock LLP law firm has hired Christopher G. Varallo as a lateral attorney to its national real estate practice group. Varallo's practice is in the areas of real estate, business, corporate mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property. Varallo was previously a partner at the Spokane office of Boise-based law firm Hawley Troxell.

Chaos Arcade, a video arcade located in Spokane, has hired Rosalie Fontana as its kitchen manager. Fontana previously was the chef at Manito Country Club and Golf Course. Fontana has 31 years of culinary experience, including 12 years in fine dining.

Issaquah, Washington-based nonprofit Washington Technology Industry Association has promoted Kelly Fukai as the organization's chief operating officer from vice president of government and community affairs. Fukai previously served as the manager of public and external affairs for Spokane International Airport. She was also the Western Region government affairs manager at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.

Zachariah Cashion has joined Spokane-based real estate company Bornhoft Commercial as a broker. Cashion specializes on industrial sales and leasing throughout Eastern Washington. Cashion was previously a commercial broker in southern Florida.

Liz Barajas has joined Spokane-based real estate agency Exit Real Estate Professionals as a retail manager. Barajas was previously a retail manager at clothing retail chain Maurices.

The Spokane office of Seattle-based law firm Williams Kastner has hired, from left, Abigail Maurer-Lesser as an associate in Williams Kastner's litigation practice group. Williams Kastner has hired Amy Mensik as an attorney. Mensik's practice focuses on labor and employment law. William Symmes has also been hired as an attorney specializing in labor and employment law and commercial ligation. Maurer-Lesser, Mensik, and Symmes all previously were employed by Boise-based law firm Hawley Troxell.

Spokane-based law firm Winston & Cashatt has hired Kenneth Thompson as an associate attorney. Thompson previously worked for another Inland Northwest law firm.


Awards & Designations 

Marketing & Business Council of America's Credit Unions has awarded STCU five total Diamond Awards that recognize marketing excellence in 2023. One of the awards, the Carat Award for Greatest Impact, was given in recognition of STCU's efforts to support the communities affected by 2023 Gray and Oregon Road wildfires in Spokane County.  


Ashley Lenz, a financial adviser with Coeur d'Alene-based financial consultant The Braga Group at Merrill, in Coeur d'Alene, has attained the Certified Financial Planner certification, which recognizes individuals who have completed financial planning coursework at an accredited college or university and passed the six-hour comprehensive CFP certification exam.


Philanthropy 

Spokane-based North Town Insurance Agency has awarded Elevations, a Spokane Valley-based nonprofit dedicated to providing children with special needs access to care, a $10,000 donation that will provide grants to families to help cover out-of-pocket speech, physical, occupational, and other therapy costs, including home therapy equipment.
