Dual-branded hotel on West Plains changes hands

Sleep Inn/Mainstay Suites Spokane, a dual-branded hotel near Spokane International Airport, has sold for $10.2 million to Cheney-based BlueWhale LLC, according to a press release from real estate brokerage firm Marcus & Millichap Inc.

Coeur d’Alene-based H&H Hospitality Spokane LLC sold the 87-room property located at 3809 S. Geiger Blvd, which sits southeast of Spokane International Airport off Interstate 90 and Highway 395.

BlueWhale could not be reached for comment, and H&H Hospitality declined to comment on the sale of the property.

Jared Plamann, senior associate with Marcus & Millichap notes, “This is a rare asset to come to market as an almost brand-new hotel in an excellent location near the airport with extended-stay options. “There continues to be added inventory and upscale conversions in the area, and the new owner will benefit from more development to come.”

As reported by the Journal of Business, Sleep Inn and Mainstay Suites was built in 2019 for $6.3 million. The former Airway Express Inn was razed to make room for the three-story lodge. Consolidated Construction Co., of Bismarck, N.D. was the contractor on the project, and M+A Design Inc., of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, designed it. The Sleep Inn and Mainstay Suites feature an indoor heated pool, a breakfast area, a complimentary airport shuttle service, and a small bar and lounge.

Sleep Inn and Mainstay Suites are a chain of dual-branded hotels under the brand of Choice Hotels International Inc. (NYSE: CHH), of Rockville, Maryland. The Sleep Inn hotel is aimed at shorter guest visits, while the MainStay Suites offers amenities for longer stays, including in-room kitchens, a marketplace, laundry, weekly rates, a pet-friendly policy, and a fitness room, the company’s website states.
