Embracing growth in uncertain times

November 7, 2024
Alisha Benson

We are proud to partner with the Journal of Business to present the 2025 Economic Forecast. Each year, this event brings together leading economists to provide critical insights into the local, national, and international economies. This year’s theme, Embracing Growth in Uncertain Times, speaks to the challenges and opportunities our region faces in navigating economic uncertainty.
The Forecast shares trends that will likely influence the year ahead—the ongoing impacts of inflation, changes in industry growth, whether the talent shortage will persist, and how national and international policies continue to shape our local landscape. Understanding the issues impacting the economy is essential to providing a clearer picture of what the future holds for business both in the Inland Northwest and across the globe.

At Greater Spokane Inc. (GSI), we believe that data should guide our decisions and shape our strategies for the region. That’s why we’ve conducted a new voter poll called The Pulse, that offers a snapshot of our region's views on quality of life and critical policy issues. These first results provide a benchmark dataset in the Quality of Life Index and reveals critical insights into Spokane County voter sentiment on issues such as public safety, homelessness, housing, education, and economic development. Data from the poll, along with the economic forecast gives us information our community needs to build and grow a thriving economy.

Our work is grounded in collaboration—with business leaders, policymakers, educators, and nonprofits—to ensure Spokane remains a prosperous community. As we move into 2025, GSI is focused on public safety, workforce growth, and economic development. Using data like The Pulse and insights from our economists, we can advocate for initiatives that align with the community’s needs and position Spokane for future success.

We remain committed to advancing initiatives that support growth, equity, and a resilient economy. I encourage you to visit GreaterSpokane.org to learn more about our efforts to guide our region’s path forward.

We look forward to working with you in 2025 and beyond as we continue building a strong future for the Spokane region.

Together, we are greater.

Alisha Benson in CEO of Greater Spokane Inc.
