New Hires and Promotions

Cancer Care Northwest has hired Aubree Turner as a physician assistant. Turner earned a Bachelor of Science in biology with a premedicine emphasis at Eastern New Mexico University and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Northern Arizona University.

Gonzaga University has selected Katia Passerini to become its 27th president, succeeding Thayne M. McCulloh, effective July 15.  Passerini currently is provost and senior executive vice president of Seton Hall University.

Spokane-based interior design firm DS Studio has promoted Lauren Welsh to associate. Welsh has been an interior designer with the firm since March.

Seattle-based law firm Foster Garvey has promoted attorney Ryan Jensen to office managing director at its Spokane office. Jensen has been with the firm since October 2022 and handles transactional real estate and general business matters, including mergers and acquisitions. 

Awards and Recognitions

Spokane-based Dr. Dan Yang, an internal medicine physician at Providence and clinical associate professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine, has been named Educator of the Year by the Washington State Chapter of the American College of Physicians. The award honors an academic-based internist considered to be a role model.

Spokane-based No-Li Brewhouse’s Wrecking Ball Imperial Stout has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the “World’s Best Stout,” noting its silver medal at the European Beer Star competition. 

The Coeur d’Alene Resort Spa was awarded the 2024 International Spa Association Innovate Award in the Spa Experience category. The spa received the recognition for its Spa After Dark event series.
