Tamarack Aerospace establishes new center in UK

Manufacturer also adds hangar, office at Sandpoint

August 13, 2020

Sandpoint, Idaho-based Tamarack Aerospace Group Inc. is stretching its wings with the establishment of a new installation center in the United Kingdom.

The new center will be located within Jet Maintenance International’s new 18,000-square-foot hangar at the London-Oxford Airport. Tamarack will operate independently of JMI, an airline-based asset management company based in Alexandria, Virginia.

The facility is the first international outpost for Tamarack, which manufactures and installs active winglets for Cessna CitationJets to boost fuel efficiency.

Nick Guida, CEO of Tamarack, says the company has an office within the space and will occupy between 2,500 square feet to 3,000 square feet of hangar space for the installation of its winglets.

The winglets also increase the amount of useful load a plane can carry and allows it to climb faster, making it useful for planes flying out of higher elevations, Guida says.

Tamarack currently has just under 30 employees based at its Sandpoint facility. Guida says two employees initially will be working out of the company’s U.K. headquarters, but will likely grow to four or five over the next eight months.

Guida estimates the company will be able to install upwards of 30 winglets a year at its new facility. The company already has sold 13, with the first two installations starting in late July. Overall, the company has completed 14 installations this year, he says.

Guida declines to disclose the company’s annual revenues.

The company is also growing its Sandpoint headquarters with the recent addition of 3,500 square feet of office space and another 8,000-square-foot hangar, he says.

In total, the company now occupies 24,400 square feet of hangar space, more than double its previous space.

Tamarack also is working on establishing an East Coast installation center, though Guida didn’t provide a timeline for such a facility.
