| Lakeside Cos.David Weeks has been named CEO of Coeur d'Alene-based Lakeside Cos.
Weeks will replace John Hemmingson, founder of Lakeside Cos., who will transition to the role of chairman.
“I am naming (Weeks) CEO of Lakeside as we expand our mission because his enthusiasm, fresh perspective, and focus has strengthened our collaboration and agility across the Lakeside companies," Hemmingson says in a press release.
Prior to being named CEO, Weeks served as president and chief operating officer of the company.
Lakeside Cos., which owns and manages a diverse portfolio of assets across multiple sectors, was founded in 1997 by Hemmingson, who earlier this year was named Business Leader of the Year by the Journal.
In January, a consortium led by Lakeside Cos. and Gonzaga University secured $48 million in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration to develop the American Aerospace Materials Manufacturing Center. The new advanced aerospace manufacturing facility will be launched in the 396,000-square-foot former Triumph Composite Systems Inc. plant that Hemmingson bought in 2021.
Weeks says in the release, “(Hemmingson) and the Lakeside team have turned small ideas into major projects that make a difference in the region."
Companies in the Lakeside Cos. portfolio include thermoplastic composite materials maker ATC Manufacturing, of Post Falls; homebuilder Architerra Homes LLC, of Coeur d’Alene; canola, winter wheat, and reclamation grass grower Century Farms LLC, of Spokane; real estate development company Kootenai County Land Co., of Spokane; Hemmingson Senior Living LLC, of Coeur d'Alene; and Rainier Seeds LLC, of Davenport, Washington.
