Spokane International Airport will receive over $6.5 million in funding for its ongoing Terminal Renovation and Expansion, or TREX, project.
“This funding is another win for Spokane International Airport’s terminal expansion project,” says Sen. Maria Cantwell in a press release. “The Inland Northwest’s main air travel hub continues to break records, serving more than 4.2 million passengers in 2024, the most ever.”
The grant will fund construction of three gates and related areas, a loading dock access road, fencing, and other aspects of the project.
The Spokane International Airport is one of a dozen airports across the state to receive a combined total of over $66 million.
Enacted by the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Airport Infrastructure Grant program is designed to provide $14.5 billion in funding nationwide over five years.
The Deer Park Airport also is among the 12 airports selected to receive funding. It will receive $585,000 to go toward construction of four new taxi lanes to provide airfield access to a hangar development area. The project is intended to bring the airport into conformity with current standards.
Among the other airports to receive funding are the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, which will receive over $45 million, and the Tri-Cities Airport, which will receive over $7 million.
