National M&A firm opens office in Spokane

Texas-based firm has 15 offices nationwide, one in Canada

National mergers-and-acquisitions firm Generational Equity LLC has opened an office on the 14th floor of the Washington Trust Bank Tower East, at 601 W. First, in downtown Spokane.

The Dallas-based firm, which does business as Generational Group, opened its Spokane office here in April, says Spokane’s managing director Paul Hajek.

“It makes logical sense to be in Spokane so we can focus on our Inland Northwest market,” Hajek says. The firm's nearest office is in Seattle.

Generational Group is a full-service M&A advisory firm with over 300 professionals across 16 offices in North America, including one in Vancouver, British Columbia.

According to the firm’s press release, the company has completed over 1,700 transactions with values ranging from $25 million to $500 million.

The 20-year-old firm offers multiple services, including strategic growth consulting, exit planning education, business valuation, value enhancement strategies, M&A advisory, digital solutions, and wealth management.

Hajek says the company focuses largely on selling companies owned by businesspeople in the baby boomer generation, "who have built their companies to various sizes and would like to exit. They’ve (usually) already tried to see if their children would take over. If they don’t, they want to sell to third parties.”

Hajek, who previously worked for Generational as an affiliate, recently joined the firm as a full-time employee. He's the only employee at the Spokane firm, but works remotely with associates throughout the country. He says the Spokane office expects to grow according to future expansion.

“The goal is to have an office and see what it brings,” he says.
