Spokane Teachers Credit Union has named Lindsey Myhre as its president and CEO, the Liberty Lake-based credit union announced this morning.

The STCU board's decision, characterized in an STCU press release as "unanimous and enthusiastic," ends Myhre's relatively brief, two-month tenure as the organization's interim leader.

STCU board Chairman Steven Jones says in the release, "While we have a deep bench of leadership talent, (Myhre) stands out as uniquely prepared for the top position."

Myhre, who grew up in Colville, Washington, and has been with the Liberty Lake-based credit union for 25 years as of this month, previously served as chief financial officer and executive vice president of the organization, joining the executive leadership team in 2015.

With her selection, she becomes the sixth president of the 91-year-old credit union, which is the largest based in the Spokane area, with about 300,000 members, $5.9 billion in total assets as of last Dec. 31, and plans to open its 50th branch location later this year. She succeeds Ezra Eckhardt, with whom STCU parted ways earlier this year.

Myhre also is the first woman to serve as the organization's president. The two largest credit unions based in the Spokane area are led by women—the other being Numerica Credit Union CEO Carla Cicero. According to the Journal's Spokane-Area Credit Unions list, published last month, 12 of the 19 credit unions with a presence here have either a female CEO or a woman who serves as the top Spokane-based executive.
