Spokane-based Ruby Hospitality has added Days Inn by Wyndham Coeur d’Alene to its real estate portfolio, marking the lodging, dining, and entertainment company’s entry into the community, says Dan Zimmerer, president of Ruby Hospitality’s hotel division.

Ruby Hospitality, a tradename of Spokane-based GVD Hospitality Management Services Inc., joined a 50% ownership partnership with the hotel’s previous owner in late May, Zimmerer explains. Days Inn will maintain its brand name while Ruby Hospitality has assumed full operational management.

Zimmerer declines to disclose the financial details of the transaction.

“It was about the location,” Zimmerer says of the acquisition. “It’s just off the exit and a straight shot to the beach; a prime location.”

Located just south of Interstate 90, at 2200 Northwest Blvd. in Coeur d’Alene, the Days Inn is a two-story structure featuring 63 rooms. In the months before Ruby Hospitality’s acquisition, the hotel fully renovated its guest rooms, Zimmerer says. Moving forward, Ruby Hospitality will invest in basic upkeep, including outside landscaping and ongoing maintenance.

Days Inn by Wyndham joins seven other hotels in Ruby Hospitality’s portfolio, all but one of which are located in or near downtown Spokane. Spokane-area lodging facilities include Ruby River Hotel, at 700 N. Division; Montvale Hotel, at 1005 W. First; Madison Inn, at 15 W. Rockwood Blvd.; the Steam Plant Hotel, at 123 S. Post; Hotel Ruby, at 901 W. First; and Ruby Suites, at 1120 N. Division. In North Idaho, Ruby Sandpoint | Ponderay is located at 477255 U.S. 95, in Ponderay.

As previously reported by the Journal, Ruby Hospitality is expected to complete renovations at its Ruby River Hotel property in time for the summer tourism season. Renovations include converting four rooms into two large extended-stay suites and enlarging and renovating the hotel’s infinity pool overlooking the Spokane River, among other improvements.
