Land leased leaves space for future expansion

Hayden-based StanCraft Jet Center is planning a $4.5 million hangar at the Spokane International Airport, according to a predevelopment application filed with the city of Spokane.

Site plans show a 35,660-square-foot, $4.5 million structure is planned to be located at 8135 W. Pilot Drive, just south of Absolute Aviation Services and Landmark Aviation and east of the main airport hub. The envisioned building would include a 29,300-square-foot hangar, a 4,400-square-foot office and lounge, and 2,000 square feet of storage space.

Robb Bloem, president and co-owner of StanCraft Boat Co. and StanCraft Jet Center, says via email the company itself is not directly involved in the project. Instead, he says, the hangar is being developed by Scottsdale, Arizona-based The Wolff Co., which has an office in Spokane.

Fritz Wolff, executive chairman of Wolff Co., and Katherine Wolff manage FK Investments LLC, according to the Arizona Secretary of State business database. FK Investments and Bloem are listed as governing members of CDA Jet Center LLC in Idaho Secretary of State records. StanCraft Jet Center is an assumed name for CDA Jet Center LLC.

A representative of Wolff Co. didn’t respond to requests for comment immediately.

Wolfe Architectural Group, of Spokane, is designing the project, which will be built by Coeur d’Alene-based Young Construction Group of Idaho, preliminary plans show.

No time line is indicated on the application.

Also included in the plans is 46 parking stalls, 17 of which are expected to be covered parking.

Site plans show total land leased from the Spokane International Airport is 80,000 square feet, with land immediately east of the planned facility set aside for a future expansion.

StanCraft currently is building a $15 million fixed-based operator center at Coeur d’Alene Airport-Pappy Boyington Field that is expected to be completed this spring. The 85,000-square-foot building is also being built by Young Construction Group, although it was designed by Coeur d’Alene-based Eric Hedlund Design.

The project includes two 30,000-square-foot hangars, each large enough to fit a single Gulfstream 650 twin-engine, 18-passenger jet, Bloem told the Journal last June.

In addition to refitting jet interiors, the company plans to offer jet refueling, conference rooms, waiting and pilot areas, and a tenant improvement space for offices.
