Georgia company acquires Wittkopf Landscaping

Landscape company name, staff to remain intact under SiteOne

January 30, 2020
Virginia Thomas

Roswell, Georgia-based SiteOne Landscape Supply has acquired Spokane Valley-based Wittkopf Enterprises Inc., which does business as Wittkopf Landscape Supplies.

The companies completed the transaction on Jan. 2.

Former owners Larry and Kristy Wittkopf were the second generation of the Wittkopf family to own the company, which was originally established in 1942 as Wittkopf Trucking.

Kristy Wittkopf says she and Larry were in talks with SiteOne for about 18 months prior to the acquisition.

“We had been looking for an exit strategy for the last couple of years,” Wittkopf says. “They are a very high-quality national company that has been fairly aggressive in acquiring landscape supply businesses in recent years. They were a good fit for us personally and also for our employees.”

Wittkopf says SiteOne has retained all 25 Wittkopf Landscape employees and both the Spokane Valley headquarters, at 19215 E. Broadway, and its second location at 8721 N. Fairview, in north Spokane.

The landscape supply company, which specializes in landscaping materials that include soils, bark, decorative rock and gravel, and concrete pavers, will now operate under the name Wittkopf Landscape Supplies, A SiteOne Company.

Wittkopf says she will stay on for about six months during the transition, while Larry Wittkopf has entered into a four-year consulting agreement with SiteOne.

About a year ago, SiteOne also acquired Spokane Valley-based Auto-Rain Supply Inc., a lawn irrigation supply company.
