Jordan Tampien, Matt Goodwin partner on new Hillyard eatery

Matt Goodwin and Jordan Tampien are planning another project, one that they expect will bring upscale pub fare to the Bemiss neighborhood in east Spokane.

The scheduled opening date is Nov. 1, Goodwin says.

Barnwood Social Kitchen & Tavern will occupy a currently vacant 3,400-square-foot building at 3027 E. Liberty, just east of Andrew Rypien Field. The building was previously home to Whiskey Dick’s, The Thirsty Dog, and Market Street Grill at different times.

The building’s sale price was $525,000, according to Goodwin.

Barnwood Social will have 13 taps with nine rotating craft beer handles and cocktails. The proprietors plan to host trivia and game nights, and a patio space is planned in the
future. 

“We found a lot of similarities to the Backyard Public House with this building,” Goodwin says, referring to a restaurant they own and operate at 1811 W. Broadway. “It’s a great location in a building that’s been underutilized.”

Goodwin says Barnwood Social will be designed more for families than the Backyard Public House. He estimates the restaurant will have at least 22 employees to start.

Restaurant hours will be 11 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to midnight on weekends, when the Barnwood Social will open with a brunch menu.
