Savvy Home boutique opens downtown

Restaurants & Retail

July 18, 2019

Savvy Home, a new home furnishings and lifestyle boutique, has opened in the former Lee Frame Shoppe space at 1407 W. First.

Owners Kim Mehaffey and Jacki Reed say they’ve been friends for over 10 years, and their goal in starting the business was to share their love of decorating and entertaining
with others.

“We wanted to bring all the things we love together under one roof so others could shop those same things,” says Mehaffey.

She says the store offers a selection of furniture, hardware, glassware, décor, pillows and throw blankets, travel bags, gifts, and entertainment items.

Mehaffey and Reed say the 1,400-square-foot space was remodeled by Spokane-based Blue Creek Construction, and Richard Spencer of SHC Woodworking crafted a special wood checkout counter, as well as a barn door for the store’s interior.

The two owners plan to be the shop’s only employees, at least for its first year of business.

“Our customers come here because they know we’re here,” says Mehaffey. “It’s important to us to keep those one-on-one interactions and build real relationships with people.”

She says the shop also hopes to work with other local businesses to host marketing nights that will feature products and services visitors can purchase in the area.

“Our next marketing event, July 25, will be a margarita making class with one of the bartenders from Andy’s Bar & Grill, who will stop by and show people how to make spicy margaritas using our bar ware,” she says. “We want to make those kinds of events a regular part of what
we do.”
