Construction crews spring into action

Warmer weather brings road work, infrastructure improvements to Spokane

East Trent:

Start Date: April 2018

Projected Finish Date: October 2018

Road crews have closed Trent Avenue between Hamilton & Helena for the purpose of building a roundabout at Perry and Trent streets. The roundabout will assist in facilitating traffic flow from Martin Luther King Jr. Way to the University District.

Contractor: L&L Cargile Inc.

 

Monroe Street:

Start Date: April 2018

Projected Finish Date: October 2018

Construction crews quickly begin tearing out a 1.1 mile stretch of Monroe Street between Indiana and Kiernan avenues to eventually reduce that section from five lanes, with two, in each direction plus a turn lane, down to three lanes, with one in each direction plus a turn lane. This project will include widening sidewalks on both sides.

Contractors: Red Diamond Construction Inc. and Murphy Brothers Inc. 

 

University Bridge

Start Date:
Early Summer 2017

Projected Finish Date: Fall 2018

The 120-foot-high central arch will eventually have a pedestrian and cycling bridge that will sit 35 feet above the nearby BNSF Railway Co. tracks. The bridge will connect the U-District to the east Sprague Avenue neighborhood.

Contractor: Garco Construction Inc.
