Boombox Pizza plans to open on Division

A new pizza restaurant called Boombox Pizza is set to open early next month in what was formerly the Revolver Bar space at 221 N. Division.

Spokane entrepreneur Jeremy Tangen is the restaurant’s primary owner through his partnership Tangen Hospitality Inc., which also owns several other downtown Spokane establishments, including two on either side of the new Boombox space, Borracho Tacos & Tequileria, and Fast Eddies All Purpose Pub.

“Most of the downtown spaces cater to people 21 or older, so we felt this area really needed a more family-friendly hangout,” says Tangen. “We plan to be an all-ages venue, open from 11 am to 9 pm.”

He says the restaurant was named Boombox because its 2,500-square-foot space has been redesigned to feature a 1990s retro theme.

The partnership is leasing the space from the building’s owners, Tangen says.

“We’ve done most of the remodeling work ourselves, including one wall that’s covered in vintage speakers from floor to ceiling,” he says. “At the same time, we’re also adding some modern touches like a new facade and garage doors.”

Boombox will be a full-service restaurant, with a menu featuring pizza, several appetizers, and salads, he says.

“We want this space to be able to host events like birthdays, as well as some fun things like trivia, bingo, and karaoke,” he says. “We’re looking forward to being able to offer something a bit different in this area.”

Tangen says he anticipates hiring about 10 new employees to operate the restaurant.
