Dave Smith Motors, the large Kellogg, Idaho-based automotive dealership, says it has acquired the Infiniti dealership of Wendle Ford Motors Inc. on Spokane’s North Side.
“It’s another brand that we can sell nationally,” says Chris Rice, the Spokane Valley-based general manager for Dave Smith Motors. Rice says the acquisition was completed on Sept. 19, but that he wasn’t involved in the transaction.
Other questions were referred to Stan Borkowski, Dave Smith’s chief financial officer, but he couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.
Dave Smith Motors employs more than 500 people in Idaho and Washington. The company has a large dealership in Kellogg and a used-car dealership in Coeur d’Alene, as well as one in Spokane Valley.
At the beginning of 2016, Dave Smith established its first physical presence in the Spokane-area market with the acquisition of the Jaremko Nissan Dealership in Spokane Valley.
The Jaremko family sold the Nissan dealership after 80 years of ownership. Jaremko Nissan was the oldest exclusive Nissan dealer in the U.S., the company said at the time of the sale.
Meanwhile, Dave Smith Motors, which turned 50 in 2015, began selling cars in 1965 in Wallace, Idaho, and started with just a half-dozen employees.
In 2011, Wendle Motors built a 6,000-square-foot showroom structure at 9000 N. Division for its Infiniti dealership, just north of the Wendle Ford complex. The building has a customer lounge and service write-up area dedicated to the Infiniti brand.
