Providence Health Care announced this afternoon that it’s eliminating the chief executive positions at Sacred Heart Medical Center and Holy Family Hospital, both of which have been held for the past 3 1/2 years by Alex Jackson.
Jackson’s last day with Providence is scheduled for Feb. 17.
Peg Currie, chief operating officer for Providence Health Care in Eastern Washington, will expand her current role to include oversight of day-to-day operations at both hospitals. Elaine Couture will continue in her role as chief executive at Providence Health & Services Eastern Washington/Montana.
Couture says of the restructuring, “Administrative positions have been under review across the entire Providence system, and many of our ministries have made a similar decision to remove the chief executive role for hospitals and restructure leadership.”
Jackson came to Spokane after working at Providence hospitals in Oregon for more than 15 years, including as chief operating officer at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland for seven years.
