Latah Creek Animal Hospital to build new facility

Clinic to move across Cheney Spokane Road from current location

August 11, 2022
Virginia Thomas

Latah Creek Animal Hospital is building a new $1.4 million facility close to its current clinic.

According to commercial building permit information filed with the city of Spokane, Latah Creek Animal Hospital will be constructed at 4302 S. Cheney Spokane Road, on the west side of the road, across from the current veterinary facility, which is located at 4241 S. Cheney Spokane Road.

A representative of Latah Creek Veterinary Hospital couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

The permit information shows the project will involve construction of a single-story, 5,000-square-foot structure. The wood-frame building will include medical exam rooms, a surgical area, and cages, along with associated site work and utilities.

James W. Elmer Construction Co., of Spokane, is the contractor on the project. Spokane-based Architectural Ventures is designing the animal hospital, and Storhaug Engineering Inc., of Spokane, is providing engineering services.

The permit information states that demolition of an existing structure will occur before construction on the animal hospital begins. The 2-acre parcel last sold in January 2018 for $650,000 to Spokane-based SRB Enterprises LLC, which has some shared ownership with the veterinary clinic, according to state Department of Revenue records.

According to Latah Creek Animal Hospital’s website, the practice, which is owned by Veterinarian Dr. Megan Bauer and practice manager Jessica Osborne, treats cats, dogs, and exotic small mammals, such as rabbits, ferrets, and guinea pigs.
