CHAS opens urgent care center in Spokane Valle

Clinic is second walk-in facility started by nonprofit provider

February 11, 2016

Nonprofit health services provider Community Health Association of Spokane has opened an urgent care clinic in Spokane Valley.

The clinic, Spokane Urgent Care-Valley, occupies roughly 6,000 square feet of space in the upper floor of a two-story medical office building that CHAS owns at 1512 N. Vercler, just east of Valley Hospital, says Matt Grebe, CHAS spokesman.

Grebe says Spokane Urgent Care-Valley, which is CHAS’s second urgent care center in the Spokane area, eventually will expand to a larger area on the first floor of the building.

The clinic has eight examination rooms and one procedure room for immediate treatment of minor injuries and illnesses that don’t require treatment at a hospital emergency room, he says.

The clinic has four primary-care providers. A fifth provider is scheduled to visit the clinic twice a month, he says. The clinic has a total of 16 employees.

The urgent care clinic, like other CHAS locations, accepts patients regardless of their ability to pay. It uses a sliding-fee schedule that’s based on income and family size, Grebe says. CHAS also accepts private and subsidized insurance.

“You don’t have to be an established CHAS patient to receive urgent care,” Grebe says.

The clinic is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

CHAS also operates Spokane Urgent Care, at 5901 N. Lidgerwood, which opened in 2011 just north of Providence Holy Family Hospital.

CHAS provides medical services at 10 other clinics in the Inland Northwest, including four in Spokane, one in Spokane Valley, one in Cheney, and one in Deer Park.
