Dentist merge practices, become Downtown Dental

Plaster, McKennon expect to offer added convenience

October 8, 2015

Dentists Corey Plaster and Rudyard McKennon are in the process of combining their dental practices into one, which they plan to call Downtown Dental.

The two dentists have spent the past 11 years working down the hall from one another on the eighth floor of the Paulsen Building, at 421 W Riverside.

“We both came into our practices at around the same time, taking over from dentists who were retiring,” says Plaster. “We’ve discovered that being accessible is important to people in this day and age, so we wanted to combine the best of both offices and make things more convenient for our patients.”

He says the two practices see a lot of business professionals who work downtown and who like the convenience of stopping by early on their way to work, over their lunch hour, or after work.

“By combining our practices, we’ll be able to extend our office hours and even collaborate on patient care,” says Plaster. “There will also be two of us on hand for emergencies. It also helps keep costs down, making dentistry a little more affordable.”

Plaster says the two have been in the process of merging for about a year now, but they just moved McKennon’s staff and some of his equipment into Plaster’s current 2,000 square-foot office space earlier this month. Combined, the two practices will have eight people on staff.

“We’re excited to start a new brand, marketing ourselves as ‘downtown’ will really allow us to cater to and support downtown professionals in addition to our more traditional patients and their families,” he says.

Plaster says the new practice will also have a new website, downtowndds.com.
