Harbor Offshore Inc., a Ventura, Calif.-based marine-construction diving contractor, has bought the building and land currently occupied by The Boat Shop, in Spokane Valley.

Gloria Steen-voorden says she and her husband, Frank, are retiring after owning and operating The Boat Shop, at 11624 E. Montgomery, for 13 years.

Steenvoorden says Harbor Offshore will occupy the property next week.

The property includes an 11,100-square-foot warehouse and shop building on 1.3 acres of land, where The Boat Shop has been selling Monterey runabouts, Alumacraft and Raider fishing boats, and Premier and Palm Beach pontoon boats.

The dealership also has been handling Honda and Mercury outboard motors, and Volvo, Penta, and Mercruiser inboard/outboard engines.

The Boat Shop’s other services are boat accessory retail sales, custom canvass top making, and boat repair and servicing.

Harbor Offshore will move its Spokane office from smaller, leased quarters at 3937 E. Boone, says Sharmi Layne, the company’s Spokane-based project coordinator. Harbor Offshore currently has about 10 employees based in the Spokane office, who work on projects in Eastern and Central Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon, Layne says.

“We work on a lot of dams in the area and along the Columbia and Snake Rivers,” she says.

Harbor Offshore also has offices in Seattle, and Kona, Hawaii.
