Ambassadors unit relocates to Holley Mason building downtown

Student-travel provider departs West Plains site

May 7, 2015
Mike McLean

People to People Ambassador Programs, the Spokane-based student-travel provider, has moved its headquarters to the sixth floor of the Holley Mason Building, at 157 S. Howard, downtown.

People to People, a subsidiary of Spokane-based Ambassadors Group Inc., had been located at 2001 S. Flint Road, on the West Plains.

People to People couldn’t be reached for comment.

Ralph Beard, vice president of customer experience for People to People, says in a website posting, “We’ve always been based in Spokane, and I’m happy we now get to play a part in revitalizing the downtown core and supporting locally owned businesses.”

He says the location also will enable most People to People employees to reduce their commute times.

People to People has fewer than 100 employees, down from more than 200 employees a year ago.

The company cut its Spokane workforce to 150 people here last June and had earlier filed notice with the Washington state Employment Security Department that it intended to lay off 60 employees on April 27.

Ambassadors Group developed the 133,000-square-foot building on Flint Road in 2006, and sold it last year for $9 million to Northwest Farm Credit Services, the Spokane-based agricultural lending cooperative.
