Comcast to open new customer service center in Spokane

Staff Report

Comcast Corp., the Philadelphia-based cable company, announced this afternoon that it has selected Spokane as one of three sites at which it will develop new customer-support centers.

The Spokane center is scheduled to be up and running later this year, Comcast said in a release. That center and two similar new centers in Tucson, Ariz., and Albuquerque, N.M., are expected to employ more than 2,000 new employees in all.

The new customer-service centers are part of a larger, multiyear plan that Comcast announced for a “customer experience transformation.” The company said it will add a total of 5,500 jobs over the next few years and has set a goal of always being on time for customer appointments by the third quarter of this year.

The plan also includes the renovation of hundreds of Comcast stores. Also, the company expects to triple the size of its “social care team” to serve customers more quickly on Twitter, Facebook, and other social platforms.
