Gallagher Construction Group, of Spokane, is progressing rapidly on a $340,000 renovation project that will convert a former retail structure at 2173 N. Hamilton into a church office building for neighboring Grace Christian Fellowship.
Oscar Torres, a parishioner at Grace Christian Fellowship and also a principal of Design Services Northwest Inc., which designed the renovation, says the project will be finished around June.
The 3,200-square-foot future church office building once housed a pharmacy and most recently was home to a tattoo parlor. Grace Christian Fellowship, at 2159 N. Hamilton, purchased the adjacent building in 2012, Torres says.
The church started in that location in mid-2000s. He says the church building was constructed in 1954, and the building that’s being renovated has been around at least since the 1960s.
“The church currently needs office space,” Torres says.
He adds that there are two Grace Christian Fellowship campuses—the one on Hamilton, which is what Torres calls the “central campus,” and one at Mead High School. Between the two locations, the church has about 500 members, says Torres. He says the church currently employs eight people.
