U.S. Community Behavioral acquires autism clinic

Company's businesses employ 1,000 in INW

November 6, 2014

U.S. Community Behavioral LLC, a multistate provider of residential and behavioral services based in Spokane, has acquired autism clinic Integrated Development Services, of Madison, Wis., says Martin Favis, CEO of U.S. Community Behavioral.

U.S. Community Behavioral owns six companies across eight states, Favis says, including in Washington and Idaho. Its companies provide services for those with autism and traumatic brain injuries, therapy-based behavioral services, licensed group homes and residential services, and supported employee services, he says.

U.S. Community Behavioral provides all the operating services for its family of companies through its subsidiary Embassy Management LLC, which is located in its 25,000-square-foot leased headquarters in the Monroe Court Building, at 901 N. Monroe, Favis says.

In addition to its own headquarters and Embassy Management, U.S. Community Behavioral has four companies between Spokane and North Idaho that offer developmental and behavioral services, as well as supported living and community programs, to adults and children with disabilities. Overall, U.S. Community Behavioral employs about 4,000 people total and about 1,000 full time in Spokane and North Idaho, Favis says.

U.S. Community Behavioral will be relocating in January to a building at 5709 W. Sunset Highway that formerly was occupied by Bothell, Wash.-based Molina Health Care, which moved last August into the Rock Pointe III building just north of downtown.

Favis declined to disclose the terms of the transaction involving Integrated Development, but says the Wisconsin company will retain its name, leadership, and employees.

“We provide them with the management services, management acumen, and capital to grow their business,” Favis says.

Integrated Development Services, which opened in 1999, has offices in Madison and Milwaukee and specializes in the identification and treatment of autism in children and young adults. Favis says that the company is continuing to look for businesses to acquire.

“We’re in a very aggressive acquisition pipeline,” he says.

Favis says Dr. Andy Paulson, founder and president of Integrated Development Services, brings a high level of autism disorder expertise to the U.S. Community Behavioral family of companies.

U.S. Community Behavioral is a portfolio company of New York City-based Bregal Partners, a private equity investment firm. Bregal Partners acquired the company in August 2013.
