Psychologist moves office to historic property

Couple buys Binkley House for office, apartment uses

July 3, 2014

Stephanie Kuffel, a Spokane clinical psychologist, says she and her husband, Robert, have formed SRK Properties LLC, which has bought for $335,000 the historic Binkley House on the lower South Hill, where she plans to move her practice this month.

The house, located at 1612 W. Seventh, was built in 1889 for J.W. Binkley, a prominent Spokane lawyer, probate judge, and financier. It was listed on the Spokane Register of Historic Places in 1987 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 and has been used as office and apartment space since then.

The Binkley House has 6,000 square feet of floor space, including 1,700 square feet on the main floor.

The psychologist practice, Stephanie W. Kuffel PHD PS, will take up a portion of the office space, and SRK Properties plans to market the rest of the main floor space for lease as two small offices with shared conference and reception space, Kuffel says.

The second floor of the house and an attached former carriage house is divided into five apartment units.

Kuffel plans to relocate her practice from its current location in leased space at 1500 W. Fourth.

Mathew Byrd, of Cornerstone Property Advisors LLC, and Karene Garlich-Loman, of  Coldwell Banker Tomlinson, handled the transaction.
