The Peaceful Valley Community Center plans to move to the lower level of All Saints Lutheran Church, in the Browne’s Addition neighborhood, following a reno-vation project there, says church pastor Alan Eschenbacher.

The construction cost for the project planned in the church basement, at 314 S. Spruce, is $294,000. The project is being funded mostly through a legislative allocation from the state’s capital budget for improvements to adapt the 2,500-square-foot space into a venue for the center’s after-school programs.

The project includes interior remodeling, removing about 1,100 cubic yards of fill to create a daylight entrance, and constructing a basement-level courtyard with a concrete accessibility-compliant ramp.

Construction is expected to begin in April and to be completed by next summer, says Mark Riley, director of the Peaceful Valley Community Center, also known as the Lower Falls Community Center. Heylman Martin & Associates PS, of Spokane, designed the project. A contractor hasn’t been selected for it yet.

The center currently occupies about 1,200 square feet of space that it leases from the city of Spokane at 214 N. Cedar, next to Glover Field, about a mile northeast of All Saints Lutheran Church, Riley says.

The space at the church, which is just west of Coeur d’Alene Park, will accommodate up to 100 youths. 

The center currently serves up to 35 mostly elementary school-aged youths during the school year, and 50 during summer months, he says.

Ritchie Trucking Service Inc., of Fresno, Calif., has leased 9,600 square feet of warehouse and distribution space in the Spokane Business & Industrial Park, at 3808 N. Sullivan. Chase Breckner, of Crown West Realty LLC, handled the transaction.

CBC Moving Inc., a Portland-based moving and delivery service, has leased 4,000 square feet of space in the Spokane Business & Industrial Park for a new Spokane-area outlet. Chase Breckner, of Crown West Realty LLC, handled the transaction.

Wolf Home Operations Inc., a Spokane Valley furniture and appliance delivery service, has leased 4,000 square feet of floor space in the Spokane Business & Industrial Park and has moved there from smaller space elsewhere in SBIP. Chase Breckner, of Crown West Realty LLC, handled the transaction.

Investment

Kenneth Wilkinson, of Post Falls, has bought as an investment the Milltown Center, a 12,800-square-foot, multitenant retail center at 306 N. Spokane Street, in Post Falls. Craig Hunter and Rob Kannapien, both of Coldwell Banker Commercial Schneidmiller Realty, handled the transaction. 

Hancock Timber Resource Group, a Boston-based timberland investment manager, has leased 7,800 square feet of office space at 3918 N. Schreiber Way, in Coeur d’Alene, and plans to open an office there in March. Craig Hunter and Rob Kannapien, both of Coldwell Banker Commercial Schneidmiller Realty, handled the transaction.

Randall Gillingham, a Spokane contractor, has bought as an investment the 3,700-square-foot building occupied by the Medical Lake post office, at 322 E. Grace, in Medical Lake. Grant Person, of NAI Black, handled the transaction. 

Retail & Services

KEK Communications Co., a Spokane Valley-based mobile phone products and services dealer doing business as Boost Mobile, has leased 1,400 square feet of floor space in a retail center at 3125 E. Francis for a third Spokane-area outlet. Colin Conway and Carl Guenzel, both of Kiemle & Hagood Co., handled the transaction. KEK Communications’ other outlets here are at 13908 E. Sprague and 2401 W. Wellesley.

C. Allan Gainer Agency, a Cheney-based American Family Insurance provider, has leased 1,000 square feet of floor space in the Grand Place office complex at 2924 S. Grand, and plans to open a new branch there. Colin Conway and Erik Nelson, both of Kiemle & Hagood Co., handled the transaction.

Industrial

Hertz Equipment Rental Corp., of  Park Ridge, N.J., has leased 25,800 square feet of space at 328 N. Fancher, and has opened a Spokane Valley outlet for construction equipment rentals and sales. Darren Slackman, of NAI Black, and Mark Lucas, of Kiemle & Hagood Co., handled the transaction.
