Marketing Associates of Spokane will hold its August meeting on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln. Mark Richard, president of the Downtown Spokane Partnership and Business Improvement District, will discuss downtown, the University District development, and the DSP strategic plan. The Washington State Liquor Control Board will hold a public hearing about Initiative 502 on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Spokane Convention Center, ballroom 100A, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. The initiative makes it legal in Washington state for a person to possess up to one ounce of marijuana bought from a licensed vendor and sets up a structure for taxing the drug. Greater Spokane Incorporated will hold 2013 Roof Deck Rendezvous on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m., on the roof deck of the Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. The cost is $25. For information and to register, go to greaterspokane.org.

SCORE will offer the following training workshops: How to Start a New Business on Wednesday, Aug. 7, and How to Write a Business Plan on Wednesday, Aug. 14. at the Spokane Regional Business Center, 801 W.
