ROW, Framework agree to share resources where amenities offered overlap

May 23, 2013
Mike McLean

Two Inland Northwest tourism services are sharing resources in a joint effort to provide unique travel opportunities to visitors to the region.

Framework LLC, which does business as Framework Meetings & Destinations, and ROW Inc., doing business as ROW Adventures, both based in Coeur d'Alene, recently aligned to combine their expertise in planning combined events and tours centered in the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene area, says Wendi Haught, a principal at Framework.

"We have a similar business structure in how we approach customization and tour creation," Haught says, adding, "This alignment allows us to use their experienced guide resources."

ROW Adventures was founded in 1978 and started out specializing in guiding North Idaho whitewater rafting trips. The company has expanded globally and now offers guided adventures on several continents, including South America, Africa, and Antarctica.

Framework has been creating and providing specialty tour and activity options in the Pacific Northwest since 2008. Here, Framework aims to share the flavor of the Inland Northwest through programs focused on the tourism market, Haught says.

As a destination management company, Framework provides range of services available to visitors from the moment they arrive here at the airport until they depart, she says. For its part in the business alignment, Framework will serve as the overall program coordination team for site selection, meeting and event planning, and speaker and entertainment scheduling, Haught says.

ROW will add its expertise to support the programs by arranging and staffing group tours and activities, including history and geology tours, team-building events, biking, rafting, fishing, and other guide services.

Prior to the alignment, Frameworks had an informal relationship with ROW.

"ROW has always been our go-to guide service for outdoor pursuits," she says.

ROW also recently started offering urban-based services, such food and beverage walking tours, making a business alignment more practical, she says.

The new strategic partnership enables Framework to rely on ROW where their services would otherwise overlap.

In support of the new alignment, Lesley Yarnel, former group manager at Framework, has joined ROW in its newly created position as Spokane adventure center manager, Haught says.
