CNI Northwest lands work on NE Washington projects

Colville Super 1 upgrades, Nespelem tribal building expansion to begin soon

May 9, 2013

Contractors Northwest Inc., of Coeur d'Alene, expects to begin construction this month on two projects with a combined value of $2.4 million.

The projects include a $660,000 renovation of a 54,000-square-foot Super 1 grocery store in Colville, Wash., and a $1.7 million expansion and remodel at the administration building of the Colville Indian Housing Authority, in Nespelem, Wash. The Authority is the low-income housing entity for the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation.

Work at the Super 1, located at 1250 N. Highway 395 at the north end of Colville, will include renovations of the deli, pharmacy, and bakery areas along with upgrading store fixtures, refrigeration units, and decor, says CNI project estimator Rick Martin. CNI also will add about 350 square feet of space to the store's pharmacy.

Nystrom Olson Inc., of Spokane, designed the store project, which is expected to be completed in about five months.

Meanwhile, Cloud Enterprises LLC, of Hillsboro, Ore., is the general contractor for the Colville Indian Housing Authority administration building project, and CNI is a major subcontractor, Martin says. He says CNI will construct a 4,400-square-foot addition to an existing building and renovate 5,200 square feet of existing tribal administration office space.

Martin says that project is expected to be completed in a year. Architects West Inc., of Coeur d'Alene, designed the project. The housing authority administration building is located at 42 Convalescent Center Blvd., in Nespelem.
