BC Engineers plans move to larger space in Hayden

North Idaho concern says recent, projected growth warrants bigger quarters

May 10, 2012

BC Engineers Inc., of Hayden, Idaho, plans to move to larger quarters this spring.

The structural engineering company will lease 1,500 square feet of space on the top floor of the two-story, 6,000-square-foot ALDC Building, at 8680 Wayne Drive in Hayden, says Jason Erickson, a principal at BC Engineers. BC Engineers provided the engineering services for that building when it was constructed, Erickson says.

The company currently is located in smaller quarters at 10081 N. Government Way, also in Hayden.

Brent Cornelison, the other principal and company president, founded BC Engineers in 2009, and it has grown steadily, Erickson says.

Cornelison and Erickson are both engineers. The company has four other employees, including another engineer, a drafter, an office administrator, and a part-time marketing coordinator, Erickson says.

"BC Engineers has been growing well, and it's starting to get a good presence in the area," he says, adding that the company hopes to add up to three more employees to its staff under its current five-year plan.

The company's expertise includes engineering concrete, wood, and steel structures, including custom homes and commercial buildings, Erickson says. It holds licenses in Idaho, Washington, Montana, Oregon, and California.

Its recent projects include a new fire station in Rathdrum and two projects —a new GMC dealership building and Chrysler dealership campus remodel—for Dave Smith Motors, in Kellogg.

BC Engineers also conducts failure analysis, called investigative engineering, for the insurance industry, Erickson says.
