Concrete concern changes alignment under Oldcastle

April 12, 2012
Mike McLean

Central Pre-Mix Prestress Co., a Spokane Valley-based manufacturer of prestressed concrete building products, has changed its affiliation to another company within the Atlanta-based Oldcastle Inc. family of companies.

Oldcastle Precast Inc., a prominent U.S. supplier of precast concrete, polymer concrete, and plastic products, recently bought Central Pre-Mix Prestress from CPM Development Corp., of Spokane Valley, says Chuck Prussack, general manager at Central Pre-Mix Prestress. CPM Development is a division of Old Castle Materials Inc., a supplier of gravels, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, and paving services.

The terms of the transaction weren't disclosed.

The change in company affiliation exposes Central Pre-Mix Prestress to national markets served by Oldcastle Precast, he says.

"The general idea is that Prestress would be a better fit with Precast than with Materials," Prussack says.

Central Pre-Mix Prestress will keep its name, but will be doubly branded to operate also under the Old Castle Precast name, Prussack says

Central Pre-Mix Prestress has begun consulting with Old Castle Precast to add its area of expertise to that company's products and services, and Prussack says he expects Old Castle Precast will drive business to Central Pre-Mix Prestress as the companies cement their relationship.

Prestressed concrete is reinforced with steel cable or rods, usually embedded under tension in the concrete, to counteract stress that occurs under load.
