The $3.7 million project that extends Riverside Avenue east into Spokane's University District is expected to open to traffic in May, once a few finishing touches are in place. Spokane Rock Products Inc. is the contractor on that project, most of which was completed last year. The road will provide an alternative route to downtown from the higher-education park once completed.
