Westside Motorsports updates showroom, adds hot tubs to inventory

Westside MotorSports, located on West Plains, also updates showroom

March 15, 2012

Westside MotorSports, a big West Plains motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle dealer, says it has added a line of hot tubs as part of an effort to diversify its product offerings and meet the changing demands of the marketplace.

Scott Schmidtman, the dealership's president and general manager, says the business is promoting a "ride and relax" motto as it seeks to cater to motorsport enthusiasts who like to enjoy some comfort and relaxation after a day of riding.

The dealership, he says, also is completing a partial interior remodeling project that included tearing out some offices, installing additional bracket-friendly slat wall paneling, and making a few other changes to increase display space and give the showroom area a more updated look.

This year's product diversification and showroom update follows the addition last year of an onsite Motorcycle Safety Foundation- and Washington state-approved motorcycle training range, replacing one that had been located on property leased from the Spokane Airport Board, Schmidtman says.

The upscale, energy-efficient Beachcomber hot tubs that it now carries are made in Surrey, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver, and range in price from around $4,300 to "the high teens," depending on size and features, Schmidtman says.

"We've had a pretty good response so far," he says.

Westside MotorSports is the only dealer for the Beachcomber brand hot tubs in the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene area and the only motorcycle dealer here that carries hot tubs, he says.

"It's something new that Beachcomber is doing," seeking to expand its market penetration by partnering with established dealers of complementary products, Schmidtman says.

Westside MotorSports is located at 4201 S. Grove Road, on the south side of Interstate 90 next to the Geiger Boulevard interchange, and employs about 25 people.

It sells new Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and BMW motorcycles; Yamaha WaveRunner and Kawasaki Jet Ski personal watercraft; Ski-Doo snowmobiles; and five brands each of all-terrain vehicles and utility-task vehicles, including two recently added Polaris models.

It also sells Gravely zero-turn-radius riding lawn mowers, Ariens snow blowers, and three brands of trailers. In addition, it carries a wide range of motor-sport accessories, including some apparel, and operates a large service department.
