Gonzaga alum sets up north Spokane physical therapy office

New clinic to open in Evergreen Center

Gonzaga University graduate Michael Stobie currently is setting up his own physical therapy clinic near the Division Y, on Spokane’s North Side.

Stobie, 32, will open Free Motion Physical Therapy LLC next month at 8701 N. Division, in Suite F of the Evergreen Center, which is located at the northwest corner of Division Street and Price Avenue.

“This is a new venture for me and an experience I’m looking forward to,” says Stobie, who’s currently in the process of building out the 2,655-square-foot space.

Stobie earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Gonzaga before going on to earn his Ph.D. in physical therapy from Regis University, in Denver. He returned to Spokane in 2012 and began working for nearby Spokane Sports & Physical Therapy PS before deciding to start his own company.

He has certification in spinal manipulation and is also a certified orthopedic manual therapist. Currently, he’s enrolled in a fellowship through the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapists, he says.

Stobie says joint manipulation, treatment for work related injuries, and sports rehabilitation are among some of his specialties.

His practice will have three employees, including himself, at the outset. Eventually, he would like to hire “at least three or four” physical therapist assistants and a massage therapist.
