PED Inc., a Spokane-based nonprofit corporation dedicated to promoting life-enhancing wellness programs for seniors, will host its 15th annual daylong senior wellness conference on Sept. 10, at Spokane Community College. PED Executive Director Stephanie Regalado says she expects more than 1,500 participants.
"Baby boomers and up are invited as well as those in the senior-care and wellness industry, family members, and anyone seeking information and education for future planning," Regalado says.
The conference will begin at 7:30 a.m. Local radio personality Phyllis Stephens will give the keynote address, "A Lighthearted Look at the Golden Years," at 9 a.m.
Some 120 exhibitors are scheduled for the event, including Avista Corp., retirement centers, pharmacies, and a range of health-care and insurance providers, says Regalado. Booths will feature 20 different free health screenings, master gardeners, fall-prevention information, a quilt display, a doll exhibit, and a book sale. Senior volunteer awards, door prizes, and a silent auction will round out the event.
The cost of the conference is $10. Tickets are available at senior activity centers in the Spokane area, Liberty Lake, and Post Falls. Parking is free to attendees. For more information, call Regalado at 326-1471 or e-mail executivedirector@ped-spokane.org.
