Halme submits low bid for lab work at Sirti

October 23, 2008
David Cole

Davenport, Wash.-based Halme Builders has submitted the low bid to remodel part of the Sirti Technology Center at the Riverpoint Higher Education Campus.

The remodel work is needed to accommodate Washington State University's Applied Sciences Laboratory, which will relocate to the technology center. The laboratory is a Spokane-based contract research organization that undertakes a broad range of projects for businesses and government.

Bruce Thompson, director of WSU Spokane capital planning and development at Riverpoint, says Halme's low base bid was for $173,000, with an alternate of $13,500, for a total of $186,500.

Thompson says NAC/Architecture Inc., of Spokane, is the primary consultant for the design work.

WSU has leased about 12,200 square feet of space in the technology center building for the laboratory, which has been located in the WSU Spokane Health Sciences Building at Riverpoint since it launched in 2004. WSU announced in August it was leasing the space to accommodate the lab's growth, as demand for its research and development expertise continues to expand.
