STCU starts branch in Liberty Lake

Vandervert Construction expected to complete project in early spring

February 26, 1997

Spokane Teachers Credit Union says that Vandervert Construction Inc., of Spokane, has begun work on a new branch for it in Liberty Lake that the credit union plans to open in a few months.

The branch, which is to be located at the northwest corner of Appleway Avenue and Madsen Road, just west of STCUs headquarters at 1620 N. Signal, will be the credit unions 12th office, says spokeswoman Keely Barrett. The branch is to include 3,400 square feet of floor space and will employ between six and 12 people. It will feature smart ATMs and drive-through services, Barrett says. Smart ATMs accept check or cash deposits without envelopes.

A lot of our members live and work here, and weve been hearing for quite some time, When are you going to build one here? she says.

Vandervert Construction is expected to wrap up work on the branch in early spring, Barrett says. She declines to disclose an estimated cost for the project, which was designed by Bernardo-Wills Architects PC, of Spokane.

STCU bought the property for the branch last May. Jeff McGougan, of NAI Black, and Steve Schmautz, of SDS Realty Inc., handled the transaction, Barrett says.

This past summer, STCU opened its Silver Lake Branch, in Dalton Gardens, north of Coeur dAlene. The credit union has nearly $900 million in assets and more than 70,000 members, Barrett says.
