Senior project in Post Falls under way

120-unit project being built by Whitewater Creek Inc. includes homes for others

February 26, 1997
Emily Brandler

Whitewater Creek Inc., of Hayden, Idaho is building a 120-unit rental housing complex in Post Falls, half of which will be for seniors, says the city of Post Falls building department.

Construction has started on the complex, which is to include 60 townhouse units for seniors and 60 non-senior, multifamily apartments, called Montrose Senior and Montrose Family Living, respectively, says Mary Beth Cole, the city of Post Falls permit technician.

The project is located on nearly 10 acres of land north of Seltice Way and east of McGuire Road.

A representative of Whitewater Creek couldnt be reached for comment.

City records list the total value of the project at about $10.6 million. Montrose Senior, which will be located at the north end of the property, has a permitted value of $4.3 million, while Montrose Family Living has a value of $5.3 million, Cole says.

The complex also is to include two community centers, at a combined total permitted value of nearly $1 million. Montrose Seniors community center, which would include a business office, is to have roughly 5,000 square feet of floor space, and Montrose Family Livings community building is to have roughly 5,900 square feet of space.

Whitewater Creek didnt include a construction timetable for the project in its application to the city, she says. Zeck Butler Architects PS, of Spokane, is listed as the architect.

The senior-living units are to be divided into a variety of one-level, multifamily structures, including buildings with four, six, and 10 units each, Cole says. Montrose Family Living is to include four, multistory structures of varying sizes, she says.

As part of the project, Midway Road, which is located north of Seltice Way and west of McGuire, will be extended east of Maguire to provide access to the complex, she says. Two other roads, Benham Road and Compass Loop, also are to be constructed in the development.

Whitewater Creek also is building a 51-unit senior-housing complex in Airway Heights, called Airway Pointe. The company has a history of developing housing for seniors in Spokane County and North Idaho.
