More condominiums set to rise near Silver Mountain

Developer says 32-unit luxury project to take 10 months to complete

February 26, 1997
Emily Brandler

Boise-based Clearwater Lodging LLC says it plans to add to the crush of residential developments planned or under way in Kellogg, Idaho, with a 32-unit luxury condo complex its developing near Silver Mountain Resort, at a cost of $10 million.

The project, to be called Bunker Hill Condominiums, will be located at 834 McKinley, near the entrance to the resorts Gondola Village, on a site where the former corporate office of Bunker Hill Mining Co. currently sits, says Jim Cecil, a principal at Clearwater Lodging.

More than 200 condo units are being developed by various parties in and around Gondola Village, named because it is at the base of the gondola that carries passengers to the Silver Mountain ski area. Meanwhile, west of the Bunker Hill Condominiums project is the site of the proposed Galena Ridge golf course community that eventually is expected to have up to 870 residential units.

Demolition of the Bunker Hill Mining Co. office building is expected to start within the next month, after which construction of the condo project is planned, Cecil says. The project is expected to take about 10 months to complete.

The four-story Bunker Hill Condominiums building is to include 36,000 square feet of floor space, says Chris Olson, a principal at Nystrom Olson Collins Inc., of Spokane, the architectural firm thats designing the project. Units are to range in size from 600 square feet of floor space to 1,200 square feet, and the complex also is to include a private spa and fitness facility, he says. Brown Contracting & Development Corp., of Spokane, will be the contractor for the project.

Prices for living units are to range from $290,000 to $500,000, Cecil says. Clearwater Lodging is looking for a real estate agent to market the units. Idaho Independent Bank, of Coeur dAlene, is helping to finance the project, he says.

Separately, Clearwater Lodging also is wrapping up work on a 27-unit condo complex, called Sandpoint Villas, in Sandpoint, Idaho, Cecil says.
