Counter-top maker plans facility here

Portland concern to hire up to 25 employees at Spokane Valley facility

February 26, 1997
Mike McLean

Precision Countertops Inc., of Portland, Ore., says it plans to open a manufacturing facility in the Spokane Valley, where it will employ up to 25 people. The new plant here will be the counter-top makers third.

The company has leased a 40,000-square-foot space in the Spokane Business and Industrial Park, at 3808 N. Sullivan.

Precision Countertops makes and installs counter tops made of granite, quartz, solid-surface, and laminate materials. Its other plants are located near Seattle and Portland.

Robert Hausserman, Precision Countertops Portland-based general manager, says the company is familiar with the Inland Northwest market, where it has been building a customer base among builders, homeowners, and business operators.

We do some work there out of our Seattle plant, Hausserman says. This works in with our business model of providing counter tops throughout the Northwest.

Precision Countertops, founded in 1987, claims to be the largest counter-top fabricator in the Pacific Northwest.

In other regions, including Central Oregon, Precision Countertops has partnerships with Home Depot Inc. to manufacture and provide counter tops for that big home-improvement chain, he says.

Mark McLees, of Tomlinson Black Commercial Inc. handled the lease of the space. He says the plant is expected to be operational by March 1.
