Big apartment complex is set to move forward

328-unit, $24 million project planned by Lanzce Douglass is located along Regal Street

February 26, 1997
Linn Parish

Lanzce G. Douglass Inc., of Spokane, appears to be moving ahead with a $24 million, 328-unit apartment complex on Spokanes South Hill.

Spokane County issued building permits late last month for the project, which was proposed for a site at 5015 S. Regal, across that street from the South Side Sports Complex and just south of the Regal-Palouse Highway junction. Lanzce Douglass couldnt be reached for comment.

Building permits issued for the project say the complex will include 13 apartment buildings with 24 living units each, and two structures with eight units each. The 24-unit structures each will include between 22,000 square feet and 23,000 square feet of floor space, and the eight-unit buildings each will have about 16,000 square feet of floor space.

The project also will include 21 buildings with a total of 305 garage stalls, and a 2,500-square-foot recreation center.

The city of Spokane is seeking to annex 77.28 acres of land near the planned apartment complex, but that annexation effort doesnt include the Douglass property, says Dave Mandyke, the citys deputy director of public works and utilities.

The project is the most recent in a number of large apartment-complex projects in that vicinity, including the 228-unit Adirondack Lodge complex and a 116-unit complex, called Cedar Canyon Villas.
